2012 Trout Fishing Season

As the winter lumbers on many anglers are already feeling the itch to get back on the water for the 2012 fishing year.  For most anglers “Opening Day Trout Fishing” generally marks the start of the year for them.  I honestly loose sleep before the first day of trout fishing.  I think I sleep better on Christmas day then I do on this day.  I have dreams of catching “Charlie” the 10 lb lake trout that is anxiously awaiting his first meal at day break.

Last year was a very lucrative year for many anglers as all the elements seems to fall into place.  The temperature was just right, the rain held off just long enough and the fish seems to be very hungry.  I landed three nice size rainbows and one brown trout on the second week of June last year.  There are a variety of good resources that can be found on this site that will help you catch your limit on opening day 2012.  Below are some links to some articles that I previously wrote.

As for the best locations to try here is a list that currently resides on the DEM website for Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts.  Please be sure to check your local DEM website before you head out as this list may change.  I placed and (*) next to the ponds and lakes that I personally would recommend.
